Magestro Orthodontics’ 5 Tips: Be Kind To Your Braces

For new braces wearers, eating certain foods can cause unnecessary pain. Magestro Orthodontics wants to help you feel more comfortable with our 5 braces-friendly tips:

1: Eat smaller bites. Cut up your food into smaller pieces that are easy to chew.

2: Eat softer foods. The first couple of days, stick to liquid-based foods like yogurt, pudding and soup. Or soft foods like mashed potatoes or cooked vegetables.

3: Change your meat intake. Steak and ribs may not be a good idea, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop eating meat. Switch to hot dogs, lunch meat or seafood.

4: Avoid sugars and starches. Bacteria feeds on sugar and starch, creating plaque. If plaque builds up around your brackets, it could cause cavities or permanent stains.

5: Be gentle with your teeth. They may be tired, sore and achy — but give them a “breakey”!
